Guide for Book Publishing
GENERAL
GUIDELINES
1. Manuscripts must be written in English language
(of good quality) and are accepted for consideration
with the understanding that they have not been
previously published (either in whole or in
part) or submitted elsewhere.
2.
Authors should refer to the guidelines for Manuscript
Preparation, mentioned below, when preparing
their manuscript.
3.
All submissions will be reviewed by one of the
editors and at least two outside reviewers.
Authors may also suggest the names of potential
referees who may have a potential conflict of
interest. The identity of the authors will not
be disclosed to the reviewers. Similarly, reviewers'
names will be kept confidential.
4.
Please ensure that the manuscript is free from
typographical errors, spelling mistakes, missing
text, etc., because errors are an unnecessary
distraction and make it harder to review the
paper objectively. It is also an issue of courtesy
and professionalism towards the referees.
5.
Number the pages consecutively.
6.
Authors must provide figures as soft files.
7.
Figures and tables should be given at the end
of the manuscript and the ideal position for
these should be mentioned in the manuscript.
MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION

- Title
and abstract (in case of articles/research papers)

-
Tables and Table legends
A) Title/Abstract
-
The first page should include title (concise
but informative).
- The
abstract should be a single paragraph of not
more than 250 words that is complete without
reference to the text. Do not use acronyms or
complex abbreviations in the abstract.
B)
Text
- Begin
on the title page (but in case of research paper/articles
begin text on a separate page; on title page,
only abstract will appear).
-
Headings should be as follows:
-
A level heading: ROMAN,
BOLD, ALL CAPS; no space below; conjunctions
and articles should not be caps

used in Text body must be expanded at the first
citation in each chapter. Do not need to expand
the same further.
• The method/procedure section in case
of research papers/practical manuals should
be detailed enough.
• Conclusions drawn and results should
be mentioned.

the name-year citation style from Scientific
Style and Format: The CSE Manual for Authors,
Editors, and Publishers (Seventh Edition) for
style.
- Only
published material should be listed in the references
and unpublished material should be avoided.
- All
works included in the reference section should
be referred to in the text (necessary in case
of research papers/articles).
- Citations
should be typed alphabetically on a separate
sheet, double-spaced and unnumbered.
- They
should be referred to in the text by the name(s)
of the first author(s) and the year of publication
in parentheses, using the following format and
punctuation: (Bentham and Hooker,1862)
or Bentham and Hooker (1862).
- For
upto five authors, all surnames should be cited
in the first instance but on subsequent occurences
it must appear as the surname of first author
followed by et al. For six or more authors,
write only the surname of first author follwed
by et al. Use the first author's name
and "et al." when there are
more than two authors. Italicize the word et
al.
- When
writing names of multiple authors in the running
text, join them with the word ‘and’.
But in tables, figures, parenthetical material,
and reference list, join authors’ name
by using & (ampersand).
- The
order for references within parentheses in the
text should be alphabetical. For works by the
same author(s) in the same year, append a lowercase
a, b, c, etc. to the year of publication. The

all line drawings, photographs, or diagrams
consecutively with Arabic numerals. All figures

-
Protein

letters without italics (e.g., ABC).
V. Drawings, Graphs and Photographs
-
All
figures should be submitted in both electronic
format and as high-quality laser prints. Place
labels parallel to the axes. Use italic type
only to identify variables, constants, and
scientific names of species. Typewritten and
hand-lettered charts and graphs will not be
accepted. Figures considered unsuitable for
publication because of poor letter quality,
broken type, etc., will be returned to the
author for correction. Composite figures should
be submitted in their final, combined form,
with all parts labeled appropriately. All
figures, drawings, and graphs should be prepared
with the intent of carrying the most information
and the least extraneous detail. Line drawings
must have a resolution of at least 1200 dots
per inch at their final size.
-
Black-and-white
photographs: To reproduce well, photographs
should be sharp, with good contrast between
light and dark areas. Photographs making up
a composite illustration should be mounted
on a lightweight mounting board in the desired
configuration. Do not leave any space between
the individual prints making up a composite
illustration. The printer will insert a fine
line to separate the images. These photographs
must have a resolution of at least 300 dots
per inch at their final size.
-
Color
figures: Color figures must have a resolution
of at least 300 dots per inch at their final
size.
