This book is about the experiences of Dr. Lalji Singh in various Indian courts. A history was made when for the first time in the annals of Indian judiciary, DNA fingerprinting evidence presented by him was accepted by the court. A large number of sensational cases such as follows were solved based on DNA fingerprinting evidence provided by him.
Lalji Singh :- Lalji Singh after obtaining M.Sc. and Ph.D. from Banaras Hindu University, spent about 13 years in the Institute of Animal Genetics, University of Edinburgh (1974-1987) before joining CCMB. Since July 1998, he is the Director at the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), Hyderabad. He is internationally known for his contribution in the area of molecular basis of sex determination. As a follow-up of this work, he developed an indigenous probe for DNA fingerprinting. He was responsible for setting-up an autonomous Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) at Hyderabad, which is funded by the DBT, Govt. of India, for which he was the Officer on Special Duty for first three and a half years. Because of his efforts, the evidence based on DNA fingerprinting is now being accepted in the Indian Court of Law. He has been responsible in setting-up of the Laboratory for the Conservation of Endangered SpElectronics\Communication and Instrumentation Engineerings (LaCONES) as a separate campus of CCMB.
