This book covers key aspects of intellectual property rights (IPR) from the perspective of an intellectual peroperty owner of a creation and for beginners in the IPR Profession. It is designed to give the reader a complete picture of all the different forms of intellectual property. To that end, the book is designed in such a way that it starts from an individual's perspective as one who has created or will create intellectual property. Then the methods and procedures required to be followed to procure the protection in an effort to familiarize the reader with the procedural aspects.
This book also focuses on patents and related aspects in a greater manner, due to the complexity and the detail oriented, and the technical nature of the field. Several chapters are dedicated to patent related matters, including patent preparation, prosecution, patenting strategy, patent reading, patent searching and analysis, and so on. The underlying principles behind the laws and rules related to patents are presented, and its applicability in everyday work is also provided. Subsequently, the nuances related to three jurisdictions, including India, European Union and U.S. are also discussed. In this manner, a global perspective towards protecting one's intellectual efforts, utilizing one or more of the intellectual property rights available is given to the reader.

Rachna Singh Puri :- has over 13 years of active experience in the field of Intellectual Property. She is the CEO of Xellect IP Solutions, an IP consultancy and training firm in India. Xellect IP Solutions provides end-to-end solutions to the clients on different aspects of IP throughout from product conception to commercialization.
Her rich experience includes six years in an IP leadership role at GE India Technology Centre. At GE she was involved in building one of the largest IP teams, covering both the patent agents and IP analysts, setting up core IP processes, along with obtaining hands-on experience in U.S. patent preparation and prosecution, in the field of electrical, mechanical, and software. She has been extensively trained by U.S. attorneys on U. S. Patent Law.
Prior to joining GE Rachna led the technology and IP initiative at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). At CII, Rachna also initiated advisory services for companies on IP relating to R&D and business strategies. She was a resource person for several conferences organized by WIPO. She has been trained by WIPO through their inter-governmental programmes at JIII, Tokyo, Japan and CEIPI, Strasbourg, France. She is also a certified patent agent in India. Arvind Viswanathan :- is the Chief Strategy Officer at Xellect IP Solutions. He has over 10 years of experience in Polymer science and Chemistry. He has a Ph.D. from University of Massachusetts, Lowell, USA and is experienced in furthering science, developing new technologies and products. He has conducted research in academic, government & industrial labs and published several technical papers. He is also experienced in US patent preparation and prosecution, patent searching and analysis in the field of chemistry and biotechnology during his stint at GE Global Research Centre, Bangalore, India. At GE, Arvind also led the efforts for developing a course for training technologists in IP and has closely worked with technologists to develop patenting strategies. Arvind has been trained by US attorneys on US law and on hands-on patent drafting and analysis.
