A Textbook of Finite Element Analysis presents detailed finite element formulation for 1D, 2D, 3D trusses, beams, frames, plane stress, plane strain, axisymmetric, 3D problems, plates and shell problems. The book includes chapters on solving finite element equations and numerical integration and a chapter on programming finite element method with input and output for different types of problems. Chapters on advanced topics like heat transfer, fluid flow and torsion, finite element software, variational methods, finite elements in dynamics and vibrations, material nonlinearity and geometric nonlinearity have also been dealt with. Most of the chapters include element formulation with worked out examples, exercises and questions.

Maharaj :- has obtained his B.Sc Engineering (Civil) degree from Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Bhagalpur, M.E. degree in soil mechanics and foundation engineering from BIT, Mesra Ranchi and PhD from IIT Madras, Chennai. He has been Director, Principal, Deputy Director, Dean, HOD and Professor in various institutions and universities. At present he is Director, Principal and Professor at Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Guru Nanak Institutions, Mullana, Ambala, Haryana, India. He has taught in institutions and universities like Government Engineering College Bhagalpur, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi, Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, Rajasthan, Singhania University, Rajasthan. He has published more than 50 papers in international, national journals and conferences. He has guided several PhD, M.Tech scholars and B.Tech. students. He has provided consultancy services to more than 35 projects. He is life member of Indian Geotechnical Society, Madras Chapter, Chennai and Indian Geotechnical Society, New Delhi.
