The book is spread in seven units.
The first unit is dedicated to the basics of the computer system. It covers description of block diagram, functions and working of various components. The latest available types and varieties of different peripherals and CPUs are also elaborated.
The second unit describes two major operating systems, Windows and UNIX.
The third unit is about networking. The basic ideas of networking IPv4 and latest IPv6 have been described.
The fourth unit is about application packages.
The fifth unit covers logic development and programming skills. The language covered starts from basic concepts to developing large programs while putting emphasis on the fundamental concepts.
The sixth unit covers the Hypertext Markup Language programming for publishing and creating web pages.
The seventh unit deals with database management.

Manaullah Abid :- Manaullah Abid is Asst. Professor at Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Department of Electrical Engineering. He completed his graduation in Electrical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He received his postgraduation in Power System from IIT Roorkee and obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He served as a Scientist in the Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Roorkee. He joined as faculty, Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI in 1994. He has also served as Faculty at Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hadhramaout University of Science and Technology, Mukalla, Republic of Yemen; at King Saud University, Riyadh and later at Prince Salman University, Al-Kharj, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His areas of interest are parallel processing, signal processing and system analysis & simulationMohammad Amjad :- Mohammad Amjad is Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has four years of industry experience and 13 years of teaching experience. He has contributed twenty-five research papers in various reputed journals, national and international and at conferences in India and abroad like USA and China. He is actively involved in research and development activities in areas of MANET, WSN, Mobile Computing and Network.
