The main aim of this book is to give a clear understanding of the principles underlying engineering mechanics. This book has been written in an easy and lucid manner and is useful in understanding the basic concepts of Mechanics. The book is spread in eleven chapters. The first five chapters cover the principles of statics of rigid bodies which includes the theory and problems on concurrent and coplanar forces, friction, structure analysis, distributed forces, moment of Inertia. The subsequent six chapters cover the concepts related to dynamics of rigid bodies which includes rectilinear motion, curvilinear motion, impulse and momentum, kinematic and kinetics of rigid bodies, shear force and bending moment diagrams.
 
This book contains a systematic and conceptual approach to analyze and solve different types of questions in Engineering Mechanics. It gives a number of numerical problems with solutions which have appeared in various university and competitive examinations, giving an edge to this book over the other similar titles available in the market. Akhilesh Arora :- Dr. Akhilesh Arora is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Delhi Technological University (erstwhile Delhi College of Engineering) Delhi since 2004. Prior to joining Delhi College of Engineering, he worked at College of Military Engineering, Pune in the capacity of Lecturer for two years. He has also served as Associate professor and Head of Mechanical and Automation Engineering Department at Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University of Women, Delhi during the period from 2012 to 2014. He obtained his Ph.D. and Master’s Degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in the year 2010 and 1997 respectively. His research areas are Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Thermal Science and Engineering; Energy Conservation and Waste Heat Recovery. He has published number of research papers in International and national journals. Dr. Arora is an active member of ASHRAE and ISHRAE.

Deepak Tiwari :- Deepak Tiwari did his Masters from Delhi Technological University (formerly D.C.E.) Delhi, and is pursuing Ph.D. from Jamia Millia Islamia (A Central University), Delhi. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Bhagwan Parshuram Institute of Technology, Delhi.
