The main aim of this book is to give a clear understanding of the principles underlying engineering mechanics. This book has been written in an easy and lucid manner and is useful in understanding the basic concepts of Mechanics. The book is spread in eleven chapters. The first five chapters cover the principles of statics of rigid bodies which includes the theory and problems on concurrent and coplanar forces, friction, structure analysis, distributed forces, moment of Inertia. The subsequent six chapters cover the concepts related to dynamics of rigid bodies which includes rectilinear motion, curvilinear motion, impulse and momentum, kinematic and kinetics of rigid bodies, shear force and bending moment diagrams.
This book contains a systematic and conceptual approach to analyze and solve different types of questions in Engineering Mechanics. It gives a number of numerical problems with solutions which have appeared in various university and competitive examinations, giving an edge to this book over the other similar titles available in the market. Thus, this book is of particular value to students preparing for degree and diploma courses. The book is useful for the first year students of Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology and Aerospace Engineering streams.
