Industrial Pharmacy is the science of manufacturing, development, marketing and distribution of drug products, including quality assurance of the developed drug formulation. This book covers all topics required by students of Pharmacy. Industrial Pharmacy: A textbook is divided into two parts, ';Industrial Pharmacy' Part-I explains the formulation, manufacture, and quality control of tablets, capsules, parenteral dosage forms, liquid orals, ophthalmic dosage form and aerosols. In addition, topics such as ';Pre-formulation', ';Cosmetics' and ';Packaging Material Science' have also been briefly discussed. Part-II has been designed with the objective of imparting knowledge of the pilot plant scaleup considerations of different dosage forms. The students will be able to understand the technology transfer process from R&D to production with the necessary documentation. This book also provides information about drug regulations, roles and responsibilities of drug regulatory requirements such as ANDA and NDA, QMS.
Marina Koland :- is Professor and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutics at NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mangalore since September 1994. During this time, she has taught M.Pharm, B.Pharm, and D.Pharm students in various Pharmaceutics subjects. She has also been actively engaged in research and guiding PG and Ph.D. students in their research projects. Dr. Marina Koland has worked on several research projects funded by the Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangalore. Her areas of research include mucoadhesive drug delivery systems, insulin nanoparticles, keratin as a biomaterial for various applications, and novel drug delivery systems. She has delivered guest lectures at seminars and symposia and presented several papers at national and international conferences. Dr. Marina Koland has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and reviewed articles for Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley.Anoop Narayanan :- began his career in various organizations as a hospital pharmacist, production chemist, and clinical data manager. Dr Anoop has been an academician since 2010, teaching B.Pharm, M.Pharm, and Pharm D students in subjects such as pharmaceutics, industrial pharmacy, biopharmaceutics, pharmaceutical engineering, pharmaceutical regulatory affairs, and pharmaceutical quality assurance. He is a researcher in the field of nanotechnology applications in drug delivery. Dr Anoop has created several drug delivery systems based on nanotechnology for various synthetic and natural compounds. He mentors M.Pharm students and Ph.D research scholars in the development of various nanotherapeutics systems. Dr. Anoop is currently working on research projects funded by the VGST, Government of Karnataka, and Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, India. He has published several research and review articles in peer-reviewed journals with high impact factor.He is now affiliated with the NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, Karnataka, India.D.S Sandeep :- started his professional career as QA officer at Medreich Limited, Bengaluru in 2012. After 2 years, he joined as Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics at NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangalore. He has been teaching both B.Pharm and M.Pharm subjects since 2013. He has guided 5 PG students. His research interests include development of SLNs, ophthalmic in situ gels, formulation of micro emulsions, generic drugs and new drug regulatory aspects and quality assurance of pharmaceuticals. He has published more than 20 research articles in reputed journals
and authored one book. He has participated in several national conferences and presented 5 papers in national conferences. He is a member of professional bodies, KSPC and APTI.M P Gowrav :- is Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. He completed his graduation (B.Pharm) and postgraduation (M.Pharm) from JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. He obtained his Ph.D. from Department of Pharmaceutics, JSS College of Pharmacy, JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, Mysuru, Karnataka, India under the UGC fellowship. He is having more than 10 years of research experience and about 11 years of teaching experience. He has published 65 scientific papers in peer reviewed national and international journals. He has guided 22 PG students and presently guiding 4 PhD students. He is a member of various professional national bodies like APTI and KSPC. His research interests include development of 3D printing in dental applications and new drug regulatory aspects and quality assurance of pharmaceuticals. He is a dedicated NSS Programme Officer of the college.R. Harshitha :- is Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmaceutics Vivekananda College of Pharmacy, Rajajinagar. Her area of specialization is novel drug delivery systems and she has worked on pulsatile drug delivery systems. She has published several research papers in peer-reviewed journals and participated in many seminars, and conferences. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D and working on pro-vesicular gels and patches.
